What is it?
SVF (stromal vascular fraction) is the cellular part separated from the person's own fat tissue. In hair loss it is applied to the scalp to support the tissue around the hair follicles. Because it is prepared from the person's own tissue, the risk of allergy is low. Research in this field is ongoing, and results vary from person to person.
Who is it considered for?
- People with thinning hair
- People looking for additional support alongside other hair treatments
- As supportive treatment after a hair transplant
The cause of hair loss is investigated first, and treatment is planned based on that assessment.
How is it done?
- Under local anaesthesia, a small amount of fat is taken with a fine cannula from an area such as the abdomen or thigh.
- The fat is processed under sterile conditions to separate the SVF.
- The product is applied to the scalp with fine needles.
Aftercare
- Bruising, swelling and tenderness at the donor area may last a few days.
- Do not wash your hair on the first day; avoid saunas, Turkish baths and intense exercise for a few days.
- Because of the hair growth cycle, results are assessed after a few months.
Who may not be suitable?
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Clotting disorders or use of blood thinners
- Active infection or active scalp disease
- Ongoing cancer treatment
