What is it?
Laser energy targets small blood vessels close to the skin surface. The heated vessel is gradually absorbed by the body and becomes less visible.
Treatment areas
- Spider veins on the legs
- Thread veins on the face, around the nose and on the cheeks
For prominent, raised varicose veins, a Doppler ultrasound of the veins is done first; if needed, you are referred to a vascular surgeon.
After the treatment
- The veins may temporarily darken, and mild redness or swelling may occur.
- For the first few days, avoid hot baths, sauna and intense exercise.
- Protect the area from the sun throughout the treatment.
Who may not be suitable?
- Pregnancy
- Recent tanning
- A history of deep vein thrombosis (blood clots)
